The information somebody needs, at the moment they need it.

Somebody standing three metres up or inspecting a pump cannot walk back to the site hut for a procedure. Learning apps bring the information to the worker: on their phone or tablet, always available, aimed precisely at the task in hand.

01 How it works

Performance support: the right help at the right moment, not afterwards.

Learning apps are designed for performance support, meaning help at the moment of execution rather than preparation for it. An engineer who has never repaired a particular component opens the app, finds the right instruction by type and serial number, and follows the steps.

The content is organised per task, not per subject. So there is no manual to read front to back, just a direct route to exactly the information that matters now. Visual annotations included, video fragments where they help, and a checklist you can tick off.

Every completed task is recorded: who, when, which steps. That is valuable for maintenance management, for audits, and for spotting patterns in the mistakes and the questions.

What a learning app can hold

  • Visual work instructions per task or component
  • Interactive checklists with mandatory confirmation per step
  • Short video explanations for complex operations
  • Decision trees for diagnosis and deviations
  • Safety warnings tied to specific work
  • A record of completed inspections with timestamp and name
02 When to use

Learning apps are strongest at carrying out a task, not at building new knowledge.

Strongly suitable

  • Maintenance tasks that are not carried out daily
  • Work with a lot of variation per component or location
  • Situations where paper procedures never make it to the work floor
  • Inspections and checks where registration is mandatory
  • Onboarding contractors who do not know the installation

Less suitable

  • Complex situations where safety depends on deep understanding, where VR or blended fits better
  • Situations where a screen distracts or is dangerous (explosion zones without certified devices)
03 Compatible solutions

Solutions where a learning app is the bridge to the workplace.

Apps are used as the performance support component inside broader learning programmes.
