01 How it works

The promise of AR runs ahead of what practice allows today, and we would rather say that up front. Headsets are expensive, they work badly in combination with a helmet, and in explosion-risk zones they are usually not permitted without certified equipment.

Where it does pay off right now is on a tablet: step-by-step assembly, maintenance on equipment full of near-identical parts, and remote support in which a specialist watches through the engineer's camera.

Anyone starting here does well to begin with one task that has demonstrable failure costs, not with the technology. We help pick that task, and we say so when an ordinary visual work instruction solves the same problem for a tenth of the budget.

02 When to use

Suitable

Support at the moment of execution. Complex equipment whose parts closely resemble one another. Situations where a mistake only becomes visible much later.

Not suitable

Training beforehand, where VR or e-learning is more effective because you do not need the installation. Zones where the hardware is not allowed. Tasks somebody performs daily.

AR is support during the work, not a lesson beforehand. In practically every project we run it sits alongside ordinary instruction and training rather than replacing them.
